According to survivors' reports Spind was sunk by HMS Boreas after having picked up her crew - ref. http://www.warsailors.com/singleships/spind.html
Rohwer states that she was sunk by a coup de grāce and gunfire from the attacking U-boat, U-552. Is this a known error in Rowher, or are the Norwegian reports wrong? (perhaps she did not sink after the destroyer had shelled her?)

Hi Siri
06.48 h U-552 fired a spread of two which missed SPIND
06.55 h U-552 started with shelling SPIND, she fired 20 rounds of 8,8 and 250 rounds of 2cm
07.15 h U-552 dived because of artilleriefire (from SPIND? I found a notice that it came from a escort)
08.20 h is attackt with depth charges but managed to escape
Unfortunatelly I dont have the KTB sides for this day. BdU wrote in his summary for this patrol that U-552 tried to fire a coupe de grace as the destroyer appears, but this torpedo missed SPIND too
Best regards

Thank you so much, Roland! We can probably safely assume then that Spind sank after having been shelled by the destroyer. That's also the impression I got from the various reports, which say she sank within 5 minutes.
