U-160 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Georg Lassen on 24th Feb 1942 and arrived at return on the same day.

Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 1st Mar 1942, U-160 left Helgoland under the command of Georg Lassen and after over eight weeks arrived at return on 28th Apr 1942.

  • On 25th Jul 1942 he sank the Dutch 2,078 ton Telamon.
  • On 29th Jul 1942 he sank the Canadian 1,938 ton Prescodoc.
  • On 2nd Aug 1942 he sank the British 4,694 ton Treminnard.
  • On 4th Aug 1942 he damaged the Norwegian 6,161 ton Havsten.

On the 6th Jan 1943, U-160 left Lorient under the command of Georg Lassen and arrived at return on 10th May 1943 after more than seventeen weeks.
Georg Lassen hit nine ships on this patrol, six of these ships were in convoy, all of them from convoy DN-21.
  • On 8th Feb 1943 he sank the American 7,191 ton Roger B Taney.
  • On 3rd Mar 1943 he sank the British 5,961 ton Nirpura, from convoy DN-21.
  • On 3rd Mar 1943 he sank the American 7,176 ton Harvey W Scott, sailing with convoy DN-21.
  • On 3rd Mar 1943 he damaged the Dutch 10,356 ton Tibia, a member of convoy DN-21.
  • On 4th Mar 1943 he damaged the British 4,868 ton Sheaf Crown, part of convoy DN-21.
  • On 4th Mar 1943 he sank the British 5,087 ton Empire Mahseer, from convoy DN-21.
  • On 4th Mar 1943 he sank the British 7,628 ton Marietta E, sailing with convoy DN-21.
  • On 8th Mar 1943 he sank the American 7,176 ton James B Stephens.
  • On 11th Mar 1943 he sank the British 4,986 ton Aelybryn.
