U-174 departed under Wolfgang Grandefeld from Lorient on 18th Mar 1943 and arrived at return on 27th Apr 1943 after more than five weeks. On 27th Apr 1943 in square BB 97, U-174 came under attack from an aircraft of USN VB-25 Squadron. U-174 was destroyed in the attack.
