Operations information for U-180
09.02.1943 - 03.07.1943 First Sailing - active patrol U-180 left Kiel under the command of Werner Musenberg on 9th Feb 1943 and arrived at return on 3rd Jul 1943 after twenty and a half weeks. On 12th May 1943 U-180 came under attack from an aircraft of SAAF 44 Squadron. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft. On 30th Jun 1943 in square BF 74, U-180 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 53 Squadron. Werner Musenberg hit two ships on this patrol. On 18th Apr 1943 he sank the British 8,132 ton Corbis. On 3rd Jun 1943 he sank the Greek 5,166 ton Boris.
24.08.1944 - 23.08.1944 Second Sailing On the 24th Aug 1944, U-180 left Bordeaux under the command of Rolf Riesen and after arrived at return on 23rd Aug 1944.
