| Operations information for U-229 | 20.02.1943 - 17.04.1943 First Sailing - active patrol
U-229 left Kiel under the command of Robert Schetelig on 20th Feb 1943 and arrived at return on 17th Apr 1943 after eight weeks.
Robert Schetelig hit three ships on this patrol and all of them were in convoy: One was from convoy HX-231 and two were from convoy SC-121.

On 10th Mar 1943 he damaged the British 3,670 ton Coulmore, sailing with convoy SC-121.

On the 11th May 1943, U-229 left St. Nazaire under the command of Robert Schetelig and after nearly four weeks arrived at return on 7th Jun 1943. On 16th May 1943 in square BE 54, U-229 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. At 1916 HRS on 17th May 1943 in square BE 41, U-229 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 190 Squadron. U-229 was heavily damaged in the attack.

U-229 departed under Robert Schetelig from Bordeaux on 2nd Aug 1943 and arrived at return on 3rd Aug 1943 after one day.
