First Sailing - active patrol
U-462 left Kiel under the command of Bruno Vowe on 23rd Jul 1942 and arrived at return on 21st Sep 1942 after eight and a half weeks.U-462 was stationed West of the Azores for re-supply duties. U-94, U-135, U-176, U-373, U-512, U-516, U-558, U-569 and U-755 were re-supplied for further operations. U-66, U-98, U-163, U-173 and U-600 were supplied for return to base.
18.10.1942 - 07.12.1942
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 18th Oct 1942, U-462 left St. Nazaire under the command of Bruno Vowe and after just over seven weeks arrived at return on 7th Dec 1942.Took up position South of the Azores. Supplied UD3, U-134, U-332 and U-552 for continued operations. UD5, U-87, U-125, U-156, U-459, U-505, U-516 and U-590 were supplied for return to base.

Third Sailing - active patrol
U-462 departed under Bruno Vowe from St. Nazaire on 20th Jan 1943 and arrived at return on 22nd Jan 1943 after two days.
19.02.1943 - 11.03.1943
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-462 left St. Nazaire under the command of Bruno Vowe on 19th Feb 1943 and after nearly three weeks arrived at return on 11th Mar 1943.U-462 was stationed North of the Azores. Re-supplied U-91, U-468, U-600, U-621 and U-653 for further operations, and the returning U-186, U-223, U-303, U-332, U-358, U-383, U-454, U-603, U-604, U-628, U-707 and U-753.

Fifth Sailing - active patrol
On the 1st Apr 1943, U-462 left Bordeaux under the command of Bruno Vowe and arrived at return on 24th Apr 1943 after over three weeks.
At 0055 HRS on 23rd Apr 1943 in square BF 45, U-462 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 172 Squadron. U-462 was not damaged by the attack.
At 0508 HRS on 23rd Apr 1943 in square BF 49, U-462 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 172 Squadron. U-462 was not damaged by the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft. Positioned for re-supply duties North of Azores. There she tended to U-134, U-191, U-306, U-415, U-598 and U-631. U-462 re-fuelled U-563 for return to base.
17.06.1943 - 23.06.1943
Sixth Sailing - active patrol
U-462 departed under Bruno Vowe from Bordeaux on 17th Jun 1943 and after six days arrived at return on 23rd Jun 1943.
At 1213 HRS on 21st Jun 1943 in square BF 73, U-462 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 151 Squadron.
At 1213 HRS on 21st Jun 1943 in square BD 73, U-462 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 456 Squadron. On the 21st, North of Cape Ortegal U-462 came under attack from 4 aircraft. 1 crewman was killed and 4 were wounded in the attack but the boat was not damaged badly.
28.06.1943 - 06.07.1943
Seventh Sailing - active patrol
U-462 left Bordeaux under the command of Bruno Vowe on 28th Jun 1943 and arrived at return on 6th Jul 1943 after just over one week.U-462 was damaged by a D/C attack.
27.07.1943 - 30.07.1943
Eighth Sailing
On the 27th Jul 1943, U-462 left Bordeaux under the command of Bruno Vowe and after three days arrived at return on 30th Jul 1943.
