During covering operations of convoy SC-118 South-East of Greenland, 220 SQN Fortress of 15th Group CC RAF (PO G Roberson), based out of Iceland, sighted the surfaced U-624. Roberson climbed into clouds and attacked at 1807, dropping 7 D/Cs while the boat was still submerging. The D/Cs straddled the boat and the explosion's aftermath revealed oil and debris including wood. 45 men were lost with U-624.
