Operations information for U-117
19.09.1942 - 05.10.1942 First Sailing - active patrol U-117 left Kiel under the command of Hans-Werner Neumann on 19th Sep 1942 and arrived back at Kiel over two weeks later on 5th Oct 1942.
10.10.1942 - 11.10.1942 Second Sailing On the 10th Oct 1942, U-117 left Kiel under the command of Hans-Werner Neumann and after one day arrived at Königsberg on 11th Oct 1942.
12.10.1942 - 22.11.1942 Third Sailing - active patrol U-117 departed under Hans-Werner Neumann from Königsberg on 12th Oct 1942 and arrived at Lorient on 22nd Nov 1942 after nearly six weeks.
23.12.1942 - 07.02.1943 Fourth Sailing - active patrol U-117 left Lorient under the command of Hans-Werner Neumann on 23rd Dec 1942 and returned six and a half weeks later to Lorient on 7th Feb 1943.
07.03.1943 - 08.03.1943 Fifth Sailing On the 7th Mar 1943, U-117 left Lorient under the command of Hans-Werner Neumann and arrived at Brest on 8th Mar 1943 after one day.
31.03.1943 - 13.05.1943 Sixth Sailing - active patrol U-117 departed under Hans-Werner Neumann from Brest on 31st Mar 1943 and after just over six weeks arrived at Bordeaux on 13th May 1943. U-117 laid mines on this patrol. These mines were hit by 2 ships. The 7,177 ton American Matt W Ransom was damaged by a mine on 11th Apr 1943. The 7,092 ton British Empire Morn was damaged by a mine on 25th Apr 1943.
22.07.1943 - 07.08.1943 Seventh Sailing - active patrol U-117 left Bordeaux under the command of Hans-Werner Neumann on 22nd Jul 1943. On the 7th Aug 1943, U-117 was sunk.
