25.08.1939 - 31.08.1939 First Sailing - active patrol
U-13 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Karl Daublebsky von Eichhain on 25th Aug 1939 for operations in the North Sea and arrived back at Wilhelmshaven six days later on 31st Aug 1939.

02.09.1939 - 06.09.1939 Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 2nd Sep 1939, U-13 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Karl Daublebsky von Eichhain for operations E of Scotland and returned to Wilhelmshaven on 6th Sep 1939 after four days on patrol.
U-13 laid mines on this patrol. These mines were hit by 3 ships. The 8,641 ton British Magdapur was sunk by a mine on 10th Sep 1939. The 10,902 ton British City of Paris was damaged by a mine on 16th Sep 1939. The 2,660 ton French Phryné was sunk by a mine on 24th Sep 1939.

U-13 departed under Karl Daublebsky von Eichhain from Wilhelmshaven on 11th Sep 1939 for operations E of Scotland and arrived at Kiel on 3rd Oct 1939 after just over three weeks.

25.10.1939 - 03.11.1939 Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-13 left Kiel under the command of Karl Daublebsky von Eichhain on 25th Oct 1939 for operations off Kinnaird Head and returned just over one week later to Kiel on 3rd Nov 1939.
Karl Daublebsky von Eichhain hit one ship on this patrol from convoy HX-5.-
On 30th Oct 1939 he sank the British 4,666 ton Cairnmona, sailing with convoy HX-5.

15.11.1939 - 25.11.1939 Fifth Sailing - active patrol
On the 15th Nov 1939, U-13 left Kiel under the command of Heinz Scheringer for operations off Newcastle and arrived back at Kiel one and a half weeks later on 25th Nov 1939.
Heinz Scheringer hit one ship on this patrol.-
On 19th Nov 1939 he sank the British 793 ton Bowling.

09.12.1939 - 14.12.1939 Sixth Sailing - active patrol
U-13 departed under Heinz Scheringer from Kiel on 9th Dec 1939 for operations off Firth of Tay and after five days arrived at Wilhelmshaven on 14th Dec 1939.
U-13 laid mines on this patrol. These mines were hit by 1 ship. The 1,421 ton Estonian Anu was sunk by a mine on 6th Feb 1940.

24.01.1940 - 05.02.1940 Seventh Sailing - active patrol
U-13 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Max-Martin Schulte on 24th Jan 1940 for operations off Kinnaird Head and arrived back at Wilhelmshaven on 5th Feb 1940 after more than one week on patrol.
Max-Martin Schulte hit two ships on this patrol.-
On 31st Jan 1940 he sank the Norwegian 1,168 ton Start.

On the 16th Feb 1940, U-13 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Max-Martin Schulte and returned nearly two weeks later to Wilhelmshaven on 29th Feb 1940.

31.03.1940 - 02.05.1940 Ninth Sailing - active patrol
U-13 departed under Max-Martin Schulte from Wilhelmshaven on 31st Mar 1940 for operations around the Shetlands and Orkneys and arrived at Kiel on 2nd May 1940 after four and a half weeks.
Max-Martin Schulte hit three ships on this patrol.-
On 17th Apr 1940 he sank the British 4,935 ton Swainby.
