On the 16th Dec 1941, U-133 left St. Nazaire under the command of Hermann Hesse and after nearly two weeks arrived at Messina on 29th Dec 1941.

U-133 departed under Hermann Hesse from Messina on 1st Jan 1942 and arrived at Salamis on 22nd Jan 1942 after three weeks.
Hermann Hesse hit one ship on this patrol from convoy MW-8B.
  • On 17th Jan 1942 he sank the British 1,920 ton HMS Gurkha, sailing with convoy MW-8B.
