First Sailing - active patrol
U-170 left Kiel under the command of Günther Pfeffer on 27th May 1943 and arrived at Lorient on 9th Jul 1943 after just over six weeks.
29.08.1943 - 23.12.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 29th Aug 1943, U-170 left Lorient under the command of Günther Pfeffer and returned to Lorient on 23rd Dec 1943 after sixteen and a half weeks on patrol.
Günther Pfeffer hit one ship on this patrol.
  • On 23rd Oct 1943 he sank the Brazilian 4,663 ton Campos.
09.02.1944 - 27.05.1944
Third Sailing - active patrol
U-170 departed under Günther Pfeffer from Lorient on 9th Feb 1944 and arrived back at Lorient on 27th May 1944 after fifteen and a half weeks on patrol.
01.08.1944 - 04.12.1944
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-170 left Lorient under the command of Hans-Gerold Hauber on 1st Aug 1944 and after nearly eighteen weeks arrived at Flensburg on 4th Dec 1944.
