U-196 left Kiel under the command of Eitel-Friedrich Kentrat on 13th Mar 1943 and arrived at Bordeaux on 23rd Oct 1943 after thirtytwo weeks.
Eitel-Friedrich Kentrat hit two ships on this patrol, one was from convoy CB-21.-
On 11th May 1943 he sank the British 4,962 ton Nailsea Meadow.
