U-202 left Kiel under the command of Hans-Heinz Linder on 17th Jun 1941 and arrived at Brest on 23rd Jul 1941 after just over five weeks.
11.08.1941 - 17.09.1941
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 11th Aug 1941, U-202 left Brest under the command of Hans-Heinz Linder and returned to Brest on 17th Sep 1941 after over five weeks on patrol.
Hans-Heinz Linder hit two ships on this patrol, one was from convoy SC-42.
  • On 27th Aug 1941 he sank the British 230 ton Ladylove.
  • On 11th Sep 1941 he sank the Swedish 1,999 ton Scania, sailing with convoy SC-42.

Third Sailing - active patrol
U-202 departed under Hans-Heinz Linder from Brest on 16th Oct 1941 and arrived back at Brest on 13th Nov 1941 after four weeks on patrol.
Hans-Heinz Linder hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy, both of them were from convoy SC-52.
  • On 3rd Nov 1941 he sank the British 2,022 ton Flynderborg, a member of convoy SC-52.
  • On 3rd Nov 1941 he sank the British 4,586 ton Gretavale, part of convoy SC-52.
13.12.1941 - 27.12.1941
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-202 left Brest under the command of Hans-Heinz Linder on 13th Dec 1941 and returned two weeks later to Brest on 27th Dec 1941.

Fifth Sailing - active patrol
On the 1st Mar 1942, U-202 left Brest under the command of Hans-Heinz Linder and arrived back at Brest eight weeks later on 26th Apr 1942.
Hans-Heinz Linder hit two ships on this patrol.
  • On 22nd Mar 1942 he damaged the British 8,882 ton Athelviscount.
  • On 1st Apr 1942 he sank the British 5,249 ton Loch Don.

  • On 1st Jul 1942 he sank the American 5,861 ton City of Birmingham.

Seventh Sailing - active patrol
U-202 left Brest under the command of Günter Poser on 6th Sep 1942 and arrived back at Brest on 25th Oct 1942 after seven weeks on patrol.
Günter Poser hit two ships on this patrol.
  • On 1st Oct 1942 he sank the Dutch 1,815 ton Achilles.
  • On 7th Oct 1942 he damaged the American 7,191 ton John Carter Rose.
12.01.1943 - 26.03.1943
Eighth Sailing - active patrol
On the 12th Jan 1943, U-202 left Brest under the command of Günter Poser and returned ten and a half weeks later to Brest on 26th Mar 1943.
On 9th Feb 1943 in square DH 38, U-202 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-202 was only slightly damaged in the attack.
Günter Poser hit four ships on this patrol and all of them were in convoy, all of them from convoy UC-1.
  • On 23rd Feb 1943 he sank the American 7,989 ton Esso Baton Rouge, from convoy UC-1.
  • On 23rd Feb 1943 he damaged the Dutch 8,252 ton Murena, sailing with convoy UC-1.
  • On 23rd Feb 1943 he damaged the British 8,482 ton British Fortitude, a member of convoy UC-1.
  • On 23rd Feb 1943 he damaged the British 9,811 ton Empire Norseman, part of convoy UC-1.
29.04.1943 - 02.06.1943
Ninth Sailing - active patrol
U-202 departed under Günter Poser from Brest on 29th Apr 1943. On the 2nd Jun 1943, U-202 was sunk.
