| Operations information for U-217 | 14.07.1942 - 16.10.1942 First Sailing - active patrol
U-217 left Kiel under the command of Kurt Reichenbach-Klinke on 14th Jul 1942 and arrived at Brest on 16th Oct 1942 after thirteen and a half weeks.
Kurt Reichenbach-Klinke hit one ship on this patrol.-
On 19th Aug 1942 he sank the British 75 ton Sea Gull D.
| 24.11.1942 - 23.02.1943 Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 24th Nov 1942, U-217 left Brest under the command of Kurt Reichenbach-Klinke and returned to Brest on 23rd Feb 1943 after thirteen weeks on patrol. On 5th Jan 1943 in square EE 97, U-217 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-217 was not damaged by the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
Kurt Reichenbach-Klinke hit two ships on this patrol.-
On 14th Dec 1942 he sank the Swedish 2,619 ton Etna.

On 3rd Feb 1943 he sank the British 7,957 ton Rhexenor.

U-217 departed under Kurt Reichenbach-Klinke from Brest on 19th Apr 1943. The boat was declared missing after 5th Jun 1943. On 5th Jun 1943 in square DF 45, U-217 came under attack from an aircraft of USN VC9 Squadron. U-217 was destroyed in the attack.
