U-224 left Kiel under the command of Hans-Karl Kosbadt on 17th Oct 1942 and arrived at St. Nazaire on 9th Dec 1942 after seven and a half weeks.
Hans-Karl Kosbadt hit two ships on this patrol, one was from convoy HX-212.-
On 29th Oct 1942 he sank the Canadian 3,921 ton Bic Island, sailing with convoy HX-212.

On 12th Nov 1942 he sank the Panamanian 5,614 ton Buchanan.
