27.02.1943 - 12.04.1943
First Sailing - active patrol
U-305 left Kiel under the command of Rudolf Bahr on 27th Feb 1943 and arrived at Brest on 12th Apr 1943 after over six weeks.
At 1438 HRS on 17th Mar 1943 U-305 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 120 Squadron. U-305 was only slightly damaged in the attack.
At 1852 HRS on 18th Mar 1943 in square AL 71, U-305 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 120 Squadron. U-305 was not damaged by the attack.
Rudolf Bahr hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy, both of them were from convoy SC-122.
  • On 17th Mar 1943 he sank the British 4,256 ton Zouave, sailing with convoy SC-122.
  • On 17th Mar 1943 he sank the British 8,789 ton Port Auckland, a member of convoy SC-122.
12.05.1943 - 01.06.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 12th May 1943, U-305 left Brest under the command of Rudolf Bahr and returned to Brest on 1st Jun 1943 after nearly three weeks on patrol.
At 1316 HRS on 15th May 1943 in square BE 65, U-305 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 10 OTU Squadron.
At 1302 HRS on 22nd May 1943 in square AK 87, U-305 came under attack from an aircraft of USN VC-9 Squadron. U-305 was moderately damaged by the attack.
At 1521 HRS on 22nd May 1943 in square AK 87, U-305 came under attack from an aircraft of USN VC-9 Squadron. U-305 was moderately damaged by the attack.
23.08.1943 - 22.10.1943
Third Sailing - active patrol
U-305 departed under Rudolf Bahr from Brest on 23rd Aug 1943 and arrived back at Brest on 22nd Oct 1943 after eight and a half weeks on patrol.
Rudolf Bahr hit one ship on this patrol from convoy ON-202.
  • On 20th Sep 1943 he sank the Canadian 1,190 ton HMCS St Croix, part of convoy ON-202.
08.12.1943 - 16.01.1944
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-305 left Brest under the command of Rudolf Bahr on 8th Dec 1943. The boat was sunk on 16th Jan 1944.
Rudolf Bahr hit one ship on this patrol.
  • On 7th Jan 1944 he sank the British 1,370 ton HMS Tweed.
