Operations information for U-306
25.02.1943 - 09.05.1943
First Sailing - active patrol
U-306 left Kiel under the command of Claus von Trotha on 25th Feb 1943 and arrived at Brest on 9th May 1943 after ten and a half weeks.
At 2105 HRS on 23rd Apr 1943 in square AK 14, U-306 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 120 Squadron. U-306 was not damaged by the attack.
At 0655 HRS on 7th May 1943 in square BF 45, U-306 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 58 Squadron.
At 1749 HRS on 7th May 1943 in square BF 46, U-306 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 10 OTU Squadron.
Claus von Trotha hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy, both of them were from convoy HX-234.
  • On 22nd Apr 1943 he sank the British 10,218 ton Amerika, sailing with convoy HX-234.
  • On 23rd Apr 1943 he damaged the British 5,313 ton Silvermaple, a member of convoy HX-234.
10.06.1943 - 11.08.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 10th Jun 1943, U-306 left Brest under the command of Claus von Trotha and after nearly nine weeks arrived at Lorient on 11th Aug 1943.
Claus von Trotha hit one ship on this patrol from convoy SL-133.
  • On 16th Jul 1943 he damaged the British 5,882 ton Kaipara, part of convoy SL-133.
23.09.1943 - 24.09.1943
Third Sailing - active patrol
U-306 departed under Claus von Trotha from Lorient on 23rd Sep 1943 and arrived at Brest on 24th Sep 1943 after one day.
07.10.1943 - 10.10.1943
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-306 left Brest under the command of Claus von Trotha on 7th Oct 1943 and returned three days later to Brest on 10th Oct 1943.
