U-415 left Kiel under the command of Kurt Neide on 27th Feb 1943 and arrived at Bergen on 4th Mar 1943 after five days.
| 07.03.1943 - 05.05.1943 Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 7th Mar 1943, U-415 left Bergen under the command of Kurt Neide and after eight and a half weeks arrived at Brest on 5th May 1943. At 0820 HRS on 1st May 1943 in square BF 74, U-415 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 503 Squadron. U-415 was moderately damaged by the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft. At 1136 HRS on 1st May 1943 in square BF 74, U-415 came under attack from an aircraft of RAAF 461 Squadron. At 1735 HRS on 1st May 1943 in square BF 71, U-415 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 612 Squadron. U-415 was moderately damaged by the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
Kurt Neide hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy, both of them were from convoy ONS-3.-
On 21st Apr 1943 he sank the British 4,917 ton Ashantian, sailing with convoy ONS-3.
