| Operations information for U-447 | 20.02.1943 - 24.03.1943 First Sailing - active patrol
U-447 left Kiel under the command of Friedrich Bothe on 20th Feb 1943 and arrived at Brest on 24th Mar 1943 after four and a half weeks. On 14th Mar 1943 in square AL 87, U-447 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 201 Squadron. U-447 was moderately damaged by the attack.

On the 27th Apr 1943, U-447 left Brest under the command of Friedrich Bothe. On the 7th May 1943, U-447 was sunk. On 7th May 1943 in square CG 87, U-447 came under attack from an aircraft of USN VP-92 Squadron. At 1845 HRS on 7th May 1943 in square CG 79, U-447 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 233 Squadron. U-447 was destroyed in the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
