| Notes for U-469 | On 25th March 1943, 206 SQN Fortress of 15th Grp CC RAF (FL W Roxburgh) was covering convoy RU67 South of Iceland when U-469 was detected on radar and then sighted surfaced at 0959. Claussen was on his way to join the Seewolf group. Roxburgh dropped 6 D/Cs in a steep dive, with the result that the boat's stern rose out of the water at a steep angle amongst debris and oil as the Fortress came around for a second attack, dropping its remaining D/Cs. 47 men went down with U-469.
