07.08.1942 - 22.10.1942
First Sailing - active patrol
U-513 left Kiel under the command of Rolf Rüggeberg on 7th Aug 1942 and arrived at Lorient on 22nd Oct 1942 after nearly eleven weeks.
Rolf Rüggeberg hit three ships on this patrol, one was from convoy HX-209.
  • On 5th Sep 1942 he sank the British 5,454 ton Saganaga.
  • On 5th Sep 1942 he sank the Canadian 7,335 ton Lord Strathcona.
  • On 29th Sep 1942 he damaged the British 7,174 ton Ocean Vagabond, sailing with convoy HX-209.
21.11.1942 - 18.12.1942
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 21st Nov 1942, U-513 left Lorient under the command of Rolf Rüggeberg and returned to Lorient on 18th Dec 1942 after nearly four weeks on patrol.
20.02.1943 - 14.04.1943
Third Sailing - active patrol
U-513 departed under Rolf Rüggeberg from Lorient on 20th Feb 1943 and arrived back at Lorient on 14th Apr 1943 after seven and a half weeks on patrol.
On 28th Mar 1943 in square DU 25, U-513 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-513 was only slightly damaged in the attack.
On 3rd Apr 1943 U-513 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 233 Squadron. U-513 was only slightly damaged in the attack.
18.05.1943 - 19.07.1943
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-513 left Lorient under the command of Friedrich Guggenberger on 18th May 1943. The boat was lost on 19th Jul 1943.
Friedrich Guggenberger hit five ships on this patrol.
