U-547 left Kiel under the command of Kurt Sturm on 25th Dec 1943 and arrived at Lorient on 23rd Feb 1944 after eight and a half weeks.
30.04.1944 - 11.08.1944
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 30th Apr 1944, U-547 left Lorient under the command of Heinrich Niemeyer and after more than fourteen weeks arrived at Bordeaux on 11th Aug 1944.
Heinrich Niemeyer hit three ships on this patrol.
  • On 14th Jun 1944 he sank the British 750 ton HMS Birdlip.
  • On 14th Jun 1944 he sank the French 2,778 ton Saint Basile.
  • On 2nd Jul 1944 he sank the Dutch 5,593 ton Bodegraven.
