Operations information for U-641
20.02.1943 - 08.04.1943
First Sailing - active patrol
U-641 left Kiel under the command of Horst Rendtel on 20th Feb 1943 and arrived at St. Nazaire on 8th Apr 1943 after more than six weeks.
At 0930 HRS on 7th Mar 1943 in square AK 39, U-641 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 220 Squadron. U-641 was only slightly damaged in the attack.
At 1235 HRS on 9th Mar 1943 in square AL 15, U-641 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-641 was not damaged by the attack.
On 17th Mar 1943 in square AK 89, U-641 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-641 was not damaged by the attack.
09.05.1943 - 16.07.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 9th May 1943, U-641 left St. Nazaire under the command of Horst Rendtel and returned to St. Nazaire on 16th Jul 1943 after more than nine weeks on patrol.
At 1716 HRS on 4th Jun 1943 in square DF 42, U-641 came under attack from an aircraft of USN VC9 Squadron. U-641 was only slightly damaged in the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
31.08.1943 - 01.09.1943
Third Sailing
U-641 departed under Horst Rendtel from St. Nazaire on 31st Aug 1943 and arrived back at St. Nazaire on 1st Sep 1943 after one day.
04.09.1943 - 18.10.1943
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-641 left St. Nazaire under the command of Horst Rendtel on 4th Sep 1943 and returned over six weeks later to St. Nazaire on 18th Oct 1943.
11.12.1943 - 19.01.1944
Fifth Sailing - active patrol
On the 11th Dec 1943, U-641 left St. Nazaire under the command of Horst Rendtel. U-641 was sunk on 19th Jan 1944.
