12.01.1943 - 08.03.1943
First Sailing - active patrol
U-707 left Kiel under the command of Günter Gretschel on 12th Jan 1943 and arrived at St. Nazaire on 8th Mar 1943 after nearly eight weeks.
On 3rd Feb 1943 in square AA 33, U-707 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-707 was not damaged by the attack.
On 4th Mar 1943 in square BE 67, U-707 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-707 was only slightly damaged in the attack.
Günter Gretschel hit one ship on this patrol from convoy ON-166.
  • On 24th Feb 1943 he sank the American 7,176 ton Jonathan Sturges, sailing with convoy ON-166.
12.04.1943 - 31.05.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 12th Apr 1943, U-707 left St. Nazaire under the command of Günter Gretschel and after seven weeks arrived at Bordeaux on 31st May 1943.
On 19th Apr 1943 U-707 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 86 Squadron. U-707 was not damaged by the attack.
At 1340 HRS on 19th May 1943 in square AK 58, U-707 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 120 Squadron.
At 0810 HRS on 20th May 1943 in square AK 61, U-707 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 120 Squadron. U-707 was heavily damaged in the attack.
At 0900 HRS on 20th May 1943 in square AK 61, U-707 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 202 Squadron. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
Günter Gretschel hit one ship on this patrol from convoy ONS-5.
  • On 5th May 1943 he sank the British 4,635 ton North Britain, a member of convoy ONS-5.
12.10.1943 - 13.10.1943

U-707 departed under Günter Gretschel from Bordeaux on 12th Oct 1943 and arrived at La Pallice on 13th Oct 1943 after one day.
