First Sailing
U-88 left Kiel under the command of Heino Bohmann on 18th Apr 1942 and arrived at Kirkenes on 24th Apr 1942 after six days.
29.04.1942 - 03.05.1942
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 29th Apr 1942, U-88 left Kirkenes under the command of Heino Bohmann and returned to Kirkenes on 3rd May 1942 after four days on patrol.
04.05.1942 - 06.05.1942
Third Sailing
U-88 departed under Heino Bohmann from Kirkenes on 4th May 1942 and arrived at Narvik on 6th May 1942 after two days.
17.06.1942 - 11.07.1942
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-88 left Narvik under the command of Heino Bohmann on 17th Jun 1942 and returned three and a half weeks later to Narvik on 11th Jul 1942.
Heino Bohmann hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy, both of them were from convoy PQ-17.
  • On 5th Jul 1942 he sank the American 5,127 ton Carlton, sailing with convoy PQ-17.
  • On 5th Jul 1942 he sank the American 7,177 ton Daniel Morgan, a member of convoy PQ-17.
25.08.1942 - 12.09.1942
Fifth Sailing - active patrol
On the 25th Aug 1942, U-88 left Narvik under the command of Heino Bohmann. The boat was lost on 12th Sep 1942.
