12.03.1941 - 14.04.1941 First Sailing - active patrol U-98 left Kiel under the command of Robert Gysae on 12th Mar 1941 and arrived at return on 14th Apr 1941 after more than four weeks. Robert Gysae hit four ships on this patrol and all of them were in convoy: One was from convoy HX-117, one was from convoy SC-25 and two were from convoy SC-26. On 27th Mar 1941 he sank the British 6,695 ton Koranton, sailing with convoy SC-25. On 4th Apr 1941 he sank the Norwegian 2,467 ton Helle, a member of convoy SC-26. Robert Gysae hit three ships on this patrol and all of them were in convoy: One was from convoy HX-126, one was from convoy OB-322 and one was from convoy SC-30. On 13th May 1941 he sank the British 10,549 ton HMS Salopian, sailing with convoy SC-30. On 20th May 1941 he sank the British 5,356 ton Rothermere, a member of convoy HX-126. 31.03.1942 - 06.06.1942 Seventh Sailing - active patrol U-98 left St. Nazaire under the command of Wilhelm Schulze on 31st Mar 1942 and arrived at return on 6th Jun 1942 after nine and a half weeks.
17.07.1942 - 16.09.1942 Eighth Sailing - active patrol On the 17th Jul 1942, U-98 left St. Nazaire under the command of Wilhelm Schulze and after more than eight weeks arrived at return on 16th Sep 1942. U-98 laid mines on this patrol. These mines were hit by 1 ship. The 185 ton American USS Bold was damaged by a mine on 10th Aug 1942.
22.10.1942 - 15.11.1942 Ninth Sailing U-98 departed under Kurt Eichmann from St. Nazaire on 22nd Oct 1942 and arrived at return on 15th Nov 1942 after three and a half weeks.
