On 2nd December 1944 convoy KB-35 departed from Kola Bay. The convoy, consisting of the steamships Kama and Revoljucija under escort of patrol ship SKR-20 and the minesweeper T-884 (pennant No. 38), was bound for Arkhangelsk.
Near the Litskie Islands the "Revoljucija" (master A.G.Motalov) had engine problems and soon lost way. The convoy commander ordered the "Kama" to continue to Archangelsk under the escort of SKR-20. The minesweeper T-884 was ordered to guard the "Revoljucija", which slowly drifted. Early on 3rd December at 03.00 "Revoljucija" was torpedoed by U-1163. One torpedo hit the steamer midship. She sank in 1 minute at position 68.44 N 37.49 E. All crew (22 men) and 1 passenger (wife of the chief engineer) died.
